Matchbox Heroes are singer/songwriters from the South East of England. Founded and led by Chris Walker and Andy Walker, they entertain crowds with their energetic acoustic sets and lively stage banter. 
 

Influenced by bands ranging from Feeder to Keane, Snow Patrol to the Police, the acoustic/pop/rock upstarts write catchy songs with sing along choruses and soothing melodies.

 

2015 finds Matchbox Heroes working on a project called #NakedSessions. They are releasing a studio cover every two weeks of tracks that have been influential through the early days of their career. Alongside the #NakedSessions the band are working on new original material and a new live setup.

 

 

 

 

The pair took guidance from Dan Wilson (of Adele and Semisonic fame) whilst writing their first record and the self-titled EP was released in 2012, featuring on radio stations across the world. It was gigged extensively throughout the UK and the track 'No One Else' was also featured on www.valueofvolunteering.org and their conservation video filmed in Nicaragua.

 

The summer of 2013 saw Matchbox Heroes create their own label; Cheese And Onion Records, and the release of their eagerly anticipated second EP, ‘Nice To Know You’. The record received critical acclaim with sell out shows, busy promotional schedules and several festival appearances ensuring it became a fan favourite. Bridging the gap between the blossoming English acoustic scene and the energetic pop-rock sounds of the American top 100, 'Nice To Know You' combined catchy melodies and intelligent lyrics with toe-tapping, sing along anthems.

 

Following on from the success of tracks such as Paper Hearts and Love Will Win, the band released a single for the autumn of 2013. The track, titled 'This Is You This Is Me' was self-produced and enjoyed airplay across many of the UK's radio stations. It also featured as the bonus studio track on 'One Night With Matchbox Heroes', a limited release live recording taken from when the band opened for Toploader in the Summer of 2013.

 

In 2014 the band toured on their 4th EP titled 'Stand With Me'. The lead single 'Our Time' was featured on radio stations across the UK and USA,

 

Matchbox Heroes have opened for several high-profile bands such as Toploader, We Were Promised Jetpacks and Ed Sheeran.
